A Treasured Retreat...

Returning from a weekend spent at beautiful Ingalls Creek Enrichment Center in Peshastin, I felt refreshed and renewed. The site for our Women's retreat could not have been better! Situated in the Cascade mountains near Leavenworth and Peshastin, the main lodge and grounds are bordered by Ingalls Creek...just loved the sound of the rushing water.

The theme of the Retreat was "Treasured", taken from Deut. 14:2, "The Lord has chosen you to be a people for His treasured possession." Our speaker, Ruth, focused specifically on diamonds and likened our walk with Christ to the process that turns a lump of coal into this sparkling stone. She talked about how time, pressure, and heat are used to develop this gem, much as these elements are used in our lives to mold and refine us.

The four elements of a diamond, Cut, Color, Carat, and Clarity were also likened to God's work in our lives as He specifically and carefully designs us and transforms us to be a reflection of Him.  Do we shine brilliantly in the setting He has chosen for us? Through our speaker's insights, God's word, and discussion questions, we gained a renewed perspective and affirmation of our value...so loved by God.

There were lighthearted fun times too...a whispered invitation to join several others in a midnight trek out to the zipline, riding under the star light...a beautifully scenic hike along Ingalls Creek... a trip into Leavenworth for Coldstone ice cream and Starbucks...gathering around the fireplace to chat and graze on a multitude of snacks in the evening...lots of laughter!

Saturday evening we had a campfire, with a sing along, a time of sharing, and roasting S'mores...a wonderful night! A retreat in such a beautiful setting is such a great way to get to know on a deeper level other women that you just see on Sunday morning. As we share our experiences and stories, we see that we all have our joys and sorrows and have the opportunity to support and encourage one another.

I just had to share a little fun addition to one of the rooms set aside for quiet meditation...I do love birds!

If you are looking for a site for retreat or getaway for a group of people, I highly recommend the Ingalls Creek Enrichment Center. The setting and the meals were fabulous...with the accommodations fairly typical with bunk rooms and two more private rooms for 4... plenty of showers/bathrooms...very affordable...and a helpful and gracious staff. We hope to return in the near future. Back to reality and the comfort of my own bed, but I wouldn't trade the experience and relationships formed!

How about you? What do you enjoy about Retreat experiences?
