A Little Love For Valentine's Day...

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, I wanted to add just a little touch of red throughout the main living areas of our home. My mother always added a little special decor for each major holiday so I guess I'm carrying on her tradition. Mom just added simple things...not much glitz and glamour. You can go crazy with themed decor with stores like Michael's or Hobby Lobby nearby, but that's just not my style. As you can see in the photo above, I just added some primroses to a bowl for a little color.

On the table in the kitchen, I just added a red wooden heart one of son's made in preschool to my winter decor....and a few more wooden hearts to the kitchen window sill.

To the bar in the kitchen, I added a mini bouquet, a favorite card, and a little jar filled with special Bible verses...love notes from God. I am not much of an original artist, so I found a blackboard design I liked on Pinterest and changed the words a bit. I have two ceramic heart shaped bowls that I put chocolates and other candies in and switched out a white platter for a red wooden one for the tea bags.

An angel in the dining room also is wearing a red wooden heart...just a whimsical touch :).

The entry bears another red heart from the boys' preschool days...made with dyed cotton balls...and a pillow made by a friend.

And finally, in the kitchen, I filled a pitcher with one of my favorite cut flowers, alstroemeria and a little baby's breath. Alstroemeria, a type of lily, last for about two weeks...so that's pretty good for a $5 bouquet from the market.

Just curious...do you decorate for Valentine's Day?

I hope that wherever you find yourself, you experience love from a family member, a co worker, a friend, or someone special this week. You are so loved by God himself...as He says in Jeremiah 31:3, "I have loved you with an everlasting love..." With love, Gracia
