Gracious Offering...the shop
/Welcome to my new shop! This new venture has been in the planning and preparation stages for several months and we are finally ready to open! The shop is located in Plain, near Leavenworth, WA. We will be open Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., starting this Friday. The location of the shop is 102 Dell Place, about 1.7 miles down River Road.
My shop is located in my husband's shop...shop within a shop!
The whole idea for my shop came about when Brooks built several pieces of furniture and portrait frames over the winter and Craigslist just did not seem like the best way to market them. The pieces are all built from pine he custom milled on his saw mill. I've always toyed with the idea of opening a shop that specializes in home decor so this seemed like a good way to meld these two ventures. After much prayer, consulting with the owner of Lodge Podge (formerly a shop in Snohomish, now an online shop) and our accountant, we decided to proceed. My friend, Heidi, showed me the ropes at the Pacific Gift Market in Seattle, a wholesale mart. She and her husband later made beautiful signs for the shop through their business, Isaksen Scale Models.
One of the signs by Isaksens...
Another friend, Pam, helped me select the items to order after hours of pouring over wholesale gift catalogs. She later came to Plain and helped me set up the shop once the merchandise arrived...quite a job!

And here it is! More merchandise arriving shortly...
Shop set up done!
My oldest son has also been invaluable help in setting up the technical equipment for my Ipad Point of sale shopkeeper system. Those of you who know me well know that technology is not my strong suit! I am so thankful for everyone who has helped us get to this point.
So, this is the latest new adventure I am embarking on in my 50's....never a dull moment! One of the guiding principles for this venture has been a quote from a man who was the former president of Bethel University...the school I graduated from in Minnesota. Taken from a story about the vision to purchase the property for the the current university campus on Lake Valentine in Saint Paul, President Carl Lundquist was quoted as saying,
The question is not, "Can we do it?" but "Is God in it?" If He is, then Anything is possible!
I hope you will stop by if you are in the area or en-route to Leavenworth. We are in the beautiful Plain valley, across from the Wenatchee River. Would be so fun to see familiar faces!
