Baby boy nursery...

Last night I made a trip to Seattle on an important mission...to meet a new little man and deliver a very belated baby shower gift. You see, I had to work on the day of the baby shower so I missed it...but so did the mother to be! She ended up going into labor just prior to her guests arriving at the door, but she stayed just long enough to greet them before her husband whisked her away to the hospital.

The new mother is the daughter of one of my oldest friends. Since I only have sons, I have sort of "adopted" the daughters of some of my closest friends, and this young mother, Malea, is one of those special ones to me. What a delight to see her in this new role...so lovingly caring for her new little guy!

Of course, I asked if I could see the baby's nursery. I had heard a rumor that the baby's father had made a beautiful crib and I just had to see it. In fact, the new daddy, Matt, had basically put together the whole nursery in their rental house...isn't that awesome? Wait until  you see the room he designed to welcome their new little guy into the world!

The custom crib designed and built by Matt...

The rest of the nursery...

And, notice this little touch on the changing table...

More personal touches...a photo of the daddy and his twin brother in the boat frame.

And, a little close up of the custom wall Matt painted...Love the seagulls!

Being the book lover that I am, I loved the book wall and recognized some old favorites...

Do you want to meet the little guy that inspired this wonderful nursery?

Here he is...delightful little Haaken! I just love his Norwegian name!

The happy family...

After a brief visit at their home, we enjoyed a delicious meal at Lucia...a lovely Italian restaurant near Green Lake. Here's the very happy grandma, Cherie, with Haaken...

Don't you just love these sweet new babies...so fresh from God? As is says in Luke 2, May he "grow in wisdom and stature, in favor with God and man." Welcome to our world, Haaken!
