Things that motivate me...

Are you a list maker? I mean, a somewhat obsessive list maker...like me? One of those people who will actually add something to a daily task list that you've already done, just so you can mark it off and somehow feel better...truth, sigh.

Not long ago I was shopping with a friend and came across this book, and the title drew my attention.  Yes, a book of list prompts for a lover of lists! How perfect! The books contains a prompt for each week of the year, if you choose to follow along chronologically...but I prefer to be a bit more random. Truthfully, some of the lists prompts just don't inspire me...but others do.

One of the list prompts that jumped out at me was List 18: List the things that motivate you. Just reading those words caused thoughts to jump through my mind and I decided to go ahead and jot them down. Here's my list:

  • Reading God's Word in the morning...
  • Beauty in nature...
  • Music that lifts my spirits...
  • Sunshine...
  • Running/exercise...
  • Reading or listening to biographies, especially "come back" true stories...
  • A friend who keeps me company...like my running partner...or other design loving friends
  • Tackling a project and getting even one small piece of it done...
  • Finishing a project...
  • An encouraging word...
  • And, you guessed it, crossing things of my "to do" list!

How about you? What things motivate you to get things done?

The other thing I like about this book is the Take Action box at the bottom of the page. "Take Action: Practice turning one of your motivators into a daily habit that will push you to take action and make your accomplishments happen." Sometimes I need that extra push to put things in action, instead of just writing it down.

Hope you are looking forward to doing some things that get you outside, enjoying the sunshine and beauty around you, as you enter into summer...my favorite season! I've shared this music video before, but it's one of my favorites for summer!

Happy Monday...the sun is shining here in the Northwest! Warmly, Gracia
